It was a day…. filled with laughter, tears, emotions, and hugs. A day spent celebrating new beginnings. A day of love with family.
It was also a day filled with hailstorms, rain, high winds and cool air! If last Saturday’s weather was going to happen to someone it happened to the right couple! The brides arrival in a float plane happened only moments before the weather turned from bad to worse. The most unbelievable hail storm of the day happened as the bride made her grand entrance to the ceremony. With umbrellas bending in the wind and marble sized hail pelting everyone she had a smile on her face while she walked towards her groom. Cold, wet, and tired they stood there looking at each other like it never happened. It was truly a day I am pleased I was allowed to attend and be a part of.
Congratulations Keith and Cassandra!

This past weekend (June 12, 2010) we had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Aaron & Holly Hines. Despite a few raindrops it was an amazing day! Actually, it was pretty much a perfect day. That being said, enjoy the video below!

Before we get into the good stuff I want to encourage everyone to visit our BLOG. We regularly update the BLOG so you can stay up to date with what we are doing. Our main website gets updated annually so the BLOG always has the most recent photos, news and promotions on it. You can check it out by clicking any BLOG link!
This is the time of year we begin to introduce new products, experiment with new techniques, revamp our packages if needed and work on some new ideas. There are often times fee changes involved in this process. While we don’t foresee any major changes we still wanted to give everyone a chance to benefit from our current structure.
With that in mind we have 2 promotions to bring you for January 2009.
First, our ‘Sweetheart Sessions’. These sessions are designed with couples and/or individuals in mind. The ‘Wall Print Package’ is oriented towards couples. This includes your session fee and an 11×14 wall print. Of course, there are discounted rates on larger sizes as well. Depending on your wall space we have some terrific upgrade fees to 16×20 and 20×24.
This is also the time of year we begin getting calls from ladies who are interested in giving their loved one a more personal gift for Valentine’s Day. The ‘Album Package’ is is oriented towards the intimate gift sessions. Again, your session fee is included as well as a custom leather 4×5 album with 10 prints. You even get to benefit from upgrading to 20 prints for only $55.00! We offer (but don’t mandate) FREE consultations for all sessions and encourage them for intimate sessions. Either way, we are happy to discuss any of your thoughts and ideas over the phone.

This month we are also having our 1st annual 3 6 9 promotion. It’s this easy……
All orders over $300.00 receive a 10% discount
All orders over $600.00 receive a 15% discount
All orders over $900.00 receive a 20% discount

These are huge savings! All portraits sessions must be done before January 31, 2009 to benefit from this promotion. If we have recently done a portrait session for you and you want to order more you can benefit from this promotion as well.
All of these promotions can be found on our WEBSITE and our BLOG

I wanted to get one more wedding post up here before the month ended. I barely made it!
We had the pleasure of photographing this wedding about a week ago. A fantastic day with beautiful weather. We wish you both the best of everything!
Enjoy the photos!

Blue sky. No clouds. Temperatures in the 80s. A perfect day for engagement portraits! We usually don’t do appointments on Sunday’s but it’s easy to break the rules for Bill and Cody
We wanted to begin the session in the studio so we made our way down stairs. A few fun portraits, a bunch of laughing, joking, and quoting “Talladega Nights” and we were ready to go outside. Being Sunday we were in no serious rush so we stood around talking a bit more. Before we knew it the sky was not blue. Plenty of clouds and the temperature had cooled. No problem though. I brought along some of my own light and still captured some fantastic portraits!
Next month we will be doing Cody’s bridal portraits and we can’t wait! Enjoy the photos and please feel free to let us know what you think of them!
We look forward to exceeding your expectations!

Last weekend we kicked off our wedding season and what a kick off it was! Beautiful weather, great locations and a fantastic couple! Tanja and I really enjoyed hanging out with the families. Mike and Anna could not be easier to get along with.
There is a full summer ahead of us so keep checking back. There will be frequent posts here. As always we encourage and look forward to all comments. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the photos!

The day before this portrait session I called to ask Malissa if she wanted to do her engagement portraits at a location instead of the studio. The weather this spring has been really weird so we had no idea what to expect for the following day. She said, “Let’s go to Skiland!”. I said, “sounds great – There’s tons of stuff around there for portraits”. We met there the following evening. Feet of snow on the ground and inches of mud where the snow had melted. Ok, we can deal with that. When we moved over to the cliff/ledge where we started it felt like hurricane winds whipping past! Of course with the temperatures it would have been an arctic hurricane but you get the idea
I was using an off camera light on a lightstand and weighted with sandbags. Within the first 10 shots it was blown over and broken. No big deal. I love natural light anyway! It sounds like a rough day huh? Well, it wasn’t. We actually had a good time. Laughing and joking around. Jeremy and Malissa are obviously in love and they made it easy to capture their emotion. I can’t wait for the wedding! Enjoy the photos and I look forward to your comments!

Howdy! Another great day and more wonderful photographs. Jason and Desiree are set to be married this summer and we have the honor of photographing their wedding! Today they were over for their engagement portraits. After previewing their images I wanted to share a few of my favorites. I’m really glad they decided to do a few outside. Breakup tends to look ugly to most people but I am a fan of this time of year for portraits.
Enjoy the photos and look for more this weekend!

We had another fantastic experience at the Women’s Affair this past weekend. 2008 was the first time they had a Friday night opening with wine tasting. From what I could tell everyone had a great time! There was an incredible attendance on Saturday. I think the weather helped out a bit. Snow in April doesn’t leave many options for things to do. Sunday turned out to be well worth our while too. There wasn’t a single slow point for us. It was an amazing turn out all weekend. The best part for us is being able to meet so many new people. Hearing everyones comments about our work is certainly a bonus! Of course, in true “Chris Smith” fashion I was able to end the weekend with a flat tire on the way home from the show! We needed one more challenge to round out our weekend
I really appreciate all of our friends stopping by to say Hello. I have to admit though….I think Kamryn stole the show and was the biggest attraction for many of you! Rightfully so! I want to thank everyone for coming out and visiting us. We truly enjoy seeing and talking to everyone.
We also had a drawing this weekend to win a Free Portrait Session. We drew two names. One at the end of Saturday and one at the end of Sunday. The lucky winners this year are:
Lisa Flynn is Saturday’s winner
Karrina Wooderson is Sunday’s winner
Congratulations to you both and we look forward to seeing you here!
Thanks again!
We look forward to exceeding your expectations!
